Honey Glazed Spiral Ham

Recipe by Shannon

A fully cooked spiral ham warms gently under foil, then finishes with a glossy honey, brown sugar, Dijon, butter, and clove glaze.

  • Total TimeApproximately 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield12 to 16 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 fully cooked bone-in spiral-sliced ham, 7 to 9 pounds
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Confirm the ham is fully cooked. Heat the oven to 325°F.
  2. Place the ham cut-side down in a roasting pan, add the water, and cover tightly with foil.
  3. Heat for approximately 10 to 12 minutes per pound, checking early, until about 125°F to 130°F internally.
  4. Combine the honey, brown sugar, butter, Dijon, and cloves in a saucepan. Whisk over medium-low heat until smooth, then simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and brush half the glaze over and lightly between the slices. Increase the oven to 375°F and bake uncovered for 8 minutes.
  6. Apply the remaining glaze and bake for 8 to 12 minutes more, until caramelized and 140°F for a plant-packaged USDA-inspected fully cooked ham, or 165°F if repackaged.
  7. Rest for 15 minutes before separating and serving the slices.

Notes

  • This recipe is only for fully cooked ham; follow the package if it says cook before eating.
  • Package instructions take priority because ham type and processing vary.
  • Keep the ham covered for most of the reheating time to protect the spiral slices.
  • Refrigerate leftovers within two hours and reheat them to 165°F.
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to 2 hours
