This star spangled fruit salad is a fresh no-cook 4th of July fruit salad made with strawberries, blueberries, and apple stars. It is simple, colorful, and easy to serve for cookouts, picnics, and summer parties.

  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1 pound fresh blueberries
  • 1 large red apple, sliced and cut into small stars


Instructions

  • Rinse the strawberries, blueberries, and apple, then dry them well.
  • Hull and quarter the strawberries.
  • Add the strawberries to a wide serving bowl.
  • Add the blueberries and toss gently with the strawberries.
  • Slice the apple into thin rounds or wide slices, working around the core.
  • Use a small star cutter to cut stars from the apple slices.
  • Scatter the apple stars over the berries.
  • Serve right away or chill briefly before serving.

Notes

  • Dry the fruit well after rinsing so the salad does not get watery.
  • Add the apple stars close to serving time for the freshest color.
